Saudade: an award winning animation

The birth of a child brings happiness to a family. But fate changes everything overnight. Saudade is a word in the Portuguese language that means the feeling of missing. The award winning animation of the 10th edition of NY Independent Cinema Awards is directed by Alfredo Dias Gomes.


Alfredo Dias Gomes debuted in music at age 18, playing drums with the brasilian musician Hermeto Pascoal. In a solo career since the 90's, he released 13 albums. Son of brazilian writers Dias Gomes and Janete Clair, Alfredo grew up in his parents' world of novels. Despite following the path of music, he always had the dream of writing. In the animated short film “Saudade”, Alfredo makes his debut as a screenwriter, director and producer.
